Lisa O’Neill’s Tour of Australia 2024

Acclaimed Irish Singer-Songwriter Lisa O’Neill Returns To Australia

Includes Woodford Folk Festival, Cobargo Folk Festival, WOMAdelaide and WOMAD New Zealand

December 2023 to March 2024

Presented by Gaynor Crawford

The Artist

Irish singer/songwriter Lisa O’Neill has an impressive CV. Five BBC Folk Award nominations, a Folk Album of the Year accolade in The Guardian in 2019 for her previous album Heard a Long Gone Song, plus three other feted releases including this year’s strikingly beautiful All Of This Is Chance.

Then there is O’Neill’s truly memorable adaptation of Bob Dylan’s “All the Tired Horses” for the final scene of the TV drama Peaky Blinders (a live version of that song in the clip below). And very recently, Lisa performed with Glen Hansard with a glorious bittersweet rendition of “Fairytale of New York” at folk-punk legend Shane MacGowan’s funeral (clip below).

The Latest Album

In 2021 The Abbey Theatre invited O’Neill to perform in its historic outdoor adaptation of Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh’s tragic 1942 masterpiece The Great Hunger (the Irish Famine). The experience of immersing herself in and researching Kavanagh’s remarkable 6,000-word poem was part catalyst for making the latest album, unlocking a mutual fascination with themes around nature and creativity.

All Of This Is Chance (2023) is O’Neill’s first full album on the Rough Trade label – it is a cinematic and evocative journey of epic proportions. Intensely rewarding. More info here on our January 2023 Albums Of The Month. One of the new tracks is the tender “Old Note”:
