‘one of those rare artists that comes along once in a blue moon.’ – Shane Howard (Goanna).

Exciting folk, country and blues singer/songwriter Claire Anne Taylor has signed to Cheatin’ Hearts Records and announced the release of Giving It Awaythe forthcoming third solo album.

Taylor recently released the single “Keep On’ Truckin’” (clip below) and now we have another taste of the album in her new song “Lay You Down in the Cold Hard Ground”, with the single’s accompanying video, filmed in a live setting. The video was recorded by Chris Townend at the world-renowned Museum of Old and New Art’s (MONA) Frying Pan Studios in Tasmania, Australia.

The new album Giving It Away is set for release on February 16 and sees Taylor backed by some of Tasmania’s finest musicians.   The lineup features Claire on Rhythm Guitar & vox, Beau Thomas on Drums, Jethro Pickett on Lead Guitar and Randal Muir on Keys, as well as harmonies by Hanna Czaban, Lilly Sideris and Nkechi Anele.

This album is a deeply personal one for me, and comes from a huge time in my life; following my son’s diagnosis with Angelman Syndrome. I guess you could say I took all my grief and anger and put it into my music and this has been my therapy and an escape of sorts.”

“It is a completely visceral experience listening to Claire’s music – you feel it deeply. This new album lands somewhere in that sweet spot between blues-country-soul and is a massive statement from Tassie’s finest. We feel like it’s going to be an instant Australian classic and we couldn’t be prouder to be releasing it on Cheatin’ Hearts.”

A recent winner of ‘Best Live Voice’ at the National Live Music Awards and a favourite on the national folk circuit, Taylor has already kicked the year off with a massive national 36-date tour in support of the single and album, including appearances at Woodford Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, Nannup Music Festival, Gum Ball Festival and many more (TOUR DATES via link below).
