New Single “Getting Old”

This year Bud Rokesky released a stunning debut album Outsider (read our review HERE) which was produced and recorded by Matt Corby and Alex Henriksson on the New South Wales North Coast at Corby’s Rainbow Valley Studios. Follow-up material, thankfully, has not taken long, with the revelation of the classic-sounding country track “Getting Old” (via Warner Music Australia – clip below).

“Getting Old came about mostly from experiences I’d had while driving the truck, but also from my personal life too. You never know what stories are held deep within the people you’re yet to meet and sometimes also with the people you know, until you make the effort to talk with them.”

Rokesky’s music has garnered widespread and instant acclaim for his broody, precise vocals and acute storytelling. Over the past year, he has secured prestigious festival spots and support gigs with Cedric Burnside, C.W. Stoneking, Meg Washington, Tim Rogers & Sons of the EastMatt Corby and Tim Easton. From humble beginnings in a small town in rural Queensland, he mostly grew up on a 170-acre property. When not on the road, he works as a truck driver and is father to three girls.

You can read our full review of Bud Rokesky‘s album Outsider HERE. For a taster, this is an exerpt:

Outsider contains thirteen tracks, each containing rich country/folk narratives that perfectly capture everyday life. Themes include a professional bull rider “JB Mauney”, a bad turn for a kid playing baseball (“Floodlights”), life on a cattle station (“Baby & I” – clip below), the compulsion of songwriting (“3 Daughters” and “Winds Roar”), plus the supremely tender six-minute monologue of “Louie”.”
