Yes folks, the GrassRoots Music Tour wagon train is up and running again after a few pandemic-interrupted years. A small group met in Nashville a couple of days back and we drove 4.5 hours east to the Birthplace of Country Music – Bristol sitting comfortably astride the States of Virginia and Tennessee. Last night was the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion Kick-Off Show at the beautifully-appointed Hotel Bristol, located downtown, two doors from the acclaimed Birthplace Of Country Music Museum. Zachariah Malachi and the Nashville Counts put on a bravura performance (more on them in later reports).
This morning was spent with a visit to the Museum, catching up with some old friends and getting everyone used to the layout for the Reunion which starts in about an hour. Lunch at the iconic Burger Bar was, as always, a step-back-in-time treat
News from the Americana Music Association today has revealed the Honorees at the Americana Awards and Honorees show in Nashville, another stopover for the GrassRoots Music Tour 2023.
Honoured will be The Avett Brothers, George Fontaine Sr., Patty Griffin, Bettye LaVette and Nickel Creek. The Americana Honors & Awards will be held on September 20 at the historic Ryman Auditorium.
