Out On The Weekend 2023 Confirmed
14 October
Asleep At The Wheel To Perform
Love Police have announced their acclaimed one-day festival of Americana and alt-country music Out On The Weekend (the ninth edition) will be on Saturday 14 October at the regular historical maritime haunt of Seaworks, Williamstown, Melbourne.
The first act announced is an impressive one indeed. Austin, Texas-based Grammy Award-winning western swing and honky tonk group Asleep At The Wheel will be making its long-awaited Australian debut after a fifty-year acclaimed career. Featuring stalwart member and founder Ray Benson, the band at OOTW will also include original member and long-time Australian resident Lucky Oceans, honey-voiced country singer Brennen Leigh and rising Americana/country performer Joshua Hedley. The show will be billed The Past, The Present and The Future and promises to be a heady (or is it hedley??) mix for Australian punters.

Asleep At The Wheel got its start on a farm in Paw Paw, West Virginia, and went on to become a cornerstone of the Austin music scene upon the band’s arrival in 1973. Inspired by western swing and honky-tonk country, the band has accrued TEN Grammy Awards and released more than twenty albums.
Also, returning is the Cripple Creek Ferry for the first time since COVID restrictions have eased. The all-in ticket price includes festival admission, ferry transport, surprise musical acts on both journeys, complimentary snacks on the way over, and a commemorative, hand-printed, poster at the end of the night.
Tickets are available from 9 am on Thursday, June 1.
