More From the Levee will be singer and songwriter’s Chris Smither’s 18th album.
The new collection continues the theme of his fifty-year double-disc retrospective Still on the Levee which was issued in 2014. Reconnecting with his roots, Smither recorded the earlier album in New Orleans at the fabled Music Shed. What resulted were twenty four fresh takes on his songs with help from some special guests including the legendary Allen Toussaint and Loudon Wainwright III.
What resulted back then was an intimate and immediate acoustic blues triumph sounding like it was recorded on his back porch.
Two weeks with longtime right-hand-man and producer David Goodrich at the helm of the sessions resulted in an over-abundance of songs in the can.
More From the Levee contains ten more tracks taken from these sessions including fan favourites “Drive You Home Again”, “Caveman” and a brand-new Smither original titled “What I Do”.
