# 3 Dale Watson and Robert Belfour

Introduction

Yes folks, the world is in a place in 2020 that no-one would have believed.

Other than the pages of a fictional book where a-pandemic-attacks-the-world-forcing-us-to-be-in-lockdown-shutting-our-borders-and-generally-feeling-jittery, how did this predicament happen so quickly and decisively??

It is hard to think of an industry which is more adversely affected and can least afford it than the live music biz.

WE MISS LIVE MUSIC AND SHARING IT WITH FANS!!

So we are going to delve into the Listening Through The Lens deep archives and re-live some better moments.

Dale Watson

It was the Caravan Music Club¹ 1 December 2013 (inner Melbourne Australia).

Dale Watson and His Lone Stars put on a great night of country, honky tonk and swing, with the usual Watson sense of humour.

Here are some images of the night.

Robert ‘Wolfman’Belfour

The best-dressed man at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival (regional Victoria Australia) November 2008. Mississippi blues man Robert ‘Wolfman’Belfour gave us a lesson in stripped-back Delta blues.

The day made all the more memorable for driving back to inner Melbourne for a quirky Howe Gelb (Giant Sand) show that night.

Sadly, Belfour is no longer with us, passing away in February 2015. Ironically, I was in Clarksdale Mississippi that year, visiting the Cat Head Delta Blues & Folk Art Centre and owner Roger Stolle showed me Belfour’s headstone that had just arrived after a fund-raising campaign to memorialise the great bluesman.
