My Fake Band

Kickstarter Campaign

Crazy band names? How about these glorious examples off the top of our heads:

The The
Mr Mister
Limp Bizkit
Mott The Hoople
Thirty Odd Foots Of Grunts (thanks Russell Crowe!)
Hootie and The Blowfish
Toad The Wet Sprocket
The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band
Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head
The String Cheese Incident

This bad taste in band names is the inspiration for a music-inspired card game called MYFAKEBAND which captures the absurdity surrounding band names and song titles.

MYFAKEBAND has been developed to combine easy game play with the natural comedy that accompanies some band names and song titles. The official MYFAKEBAND Kickstarter campaign launched on June 23 2020 giving backers an opportunity to own a copy of the game before its public release date.

According to the designers: “The music scene has forever been a lawless wasteland of endless bands who rise and fall much like the tide. In this vast world there are a few things that all bands have in common, such as the process of choosing band names and song titles. You may ask yourself, how do they do it? Why did they choose that ridiculous name? What does it all mean?”

MYFAKEBAND has 150 fake band cards and 150 genre cards. During game play, you and your crew will produce endless hit song titles based on over 20,000 fake band and genre combinations drawn from the deck.

Created by Never Played Out LLC, MYFAKEBAND aims to: “capture the imagination of the music scene through its Kickstarter campaign by offering many unique and fun “Street Team Quests.” With quests ranging from tweeting @NPOgames your own fake band names to filming Dragonforce’s Through The Fire and Flames being sung karaoke style, there is a quest for everybody. Completing one or more quests gives you the ability to play a direct role in unlocking stretch goal features for MYFAKEBAND. For the most up to date information, follow MYFAKEBAND on Kickstarter and NPOgames on social media.”

Sounds like fun to us!
