Hannah Bethel Shines a Much-Needed Light on Our Dark Canvas

It goes without saying that it is going to be a tough year for us all.

Musically, it will be a real challenge as live shows and festivals go by the board. So many events have been scratched in the weeks ahead. What no-one is saying with any certainty is when this dark veil will be lifted.

All the more reason to rejoice when a voice comes along and lifts us out of the doldrums.

Hannah Bethel WAS born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin where as a child she studied dance and appeared in theatre performances. She attended elementary school in nearby Oakfield, before moving to Houghton, Michigan. At the age of eighteen, she left Michigan seeking to establish a foot-hold in Nashville Tennessee.

Despite her youth, a self-released debut was almost twelve months old at that point. Three more independent records were created in Music City between 2010 and 2015, including an award-winning EP The Freedom.

Bethel’s 2018 breakout song “Train” received significant airplay from both country and alternative stations and the follow-up single “Rhinestone Rodeo” solidified her appeal, leading to bigger venues and an endorsement by Gretsch Guitars.

Her latest single “The House Is On Fire” was released in last October. The official music video was released in March 2020.

Here’s the striking “The House Is On Fire”:
