Sound of Silence

The Australian Music Industry is in crisis. One from which it may never fully recover.

Sound Of Silence (SOS) is a national initiative from a Music Industry Taskforce that represent our diverse music industry to bring immediate relief for an industry at the existential brink. Go to Sound of Silence to see how you can help: donate, purchase a specially-designed T-shirt (we’ve just ordered one), don’t seek a refund from a cancelled concert, keep streaming and buying music and merchandise etc. Check out the link for more.

Sunny War

Like most touring musicians, Sunny War was forced to cancel nearly all of her upcoming tours dates and performances due to concerns about COVID19. As an independent musician, she relies on touring and playing. War has released an EP, Can I Sit With You featuring four brand new songs, as a fundraiser of sorts. Please pay what you want, pay what you can, and know that you’re supporting an artist in need. BUY THE EP HERE.

Dori Freeman

Born and raised in the heart of the Blue Ridge, Dori Freeman is heir to a rich tradition of mountain music. Following three successful albums of broader music styles, she has released an EP, Heavenly Sunlight, which goes back to her roots with Appalachian gospel music. GET THE EP HERE.

Freeman also has a Facebook live show with husband Nicholas Falk, dad Scott Freeman, and grandpa Willard Gayheart on Mar 28 at 5 pm USA EST. Says Dori: “We’ll be doing lots of Willard’s songs and lots of family harmony singing. Watch for free or pay-what-you-want Paypal: drosefreeman@gmail.com Venmo: @dorifreeman”

Ella Fence

Every Saturday night (6:30pm, Australian EST), Ella Fence will be performing an hour set that you can live stream from the comfort of your own home.

The show will be ‘Ella Fence: Solo & Electric‘ and will feature her originals mixed with a selection of hand-picked covers. The performance will be a $5.00 AUD admission ($6.36 AUD with the booking fee) and will be streamed on Facebook Live (in a private group she will add you to).

If parting with any cash at the moment is not an option, she will be offering a FREE ticket option. There’s also an opportunity to pay extra if want to and feel you can.

Darrell Scott

Supreme singer/songwriter Darrell Scott will release a new album called Darrell Scott Sings the Blues of Hank Williams on April 24, 2020.

“I grew up on Hank Williams – it came from my dad who idolized him – as I heard the entire catalogue of Hank from my crib and beyond, I recognized what he loved about Hank: poetic, yet totally understandable, honest, heart broken, love sick lyrics and the possibility of forgiveness from a woman, or from one’s self, or from one’s Creator. I listened closely” recalls Scott.

Chatham County Line

Chatham County Line has brought forward the release date of their new album Strange Fascination to 24 April 2020 (via Yep Roc).

Here’s a lyric video of the gorgeous new title track:

Steve Earle & The Dukes

The second single from the new Steve Earle & The Dukes outing Ghosts Of West Virginia has been issued. See the sound clip “Devil Put The Coal In The Ground” below. The full album will be out 22 May 2020 via New West Records.
