new music Sarah Siskind

The new collection from Sarah Siskind – Modern Appalachia – will be released April 17, 2020.

Moving from Nashville to her native North Carolina has inspired Siskind to revisit and reconsider the sounds and spirit of the Appalachian mountains.
The musicians she chose for the album are impressive -legendary guitarist Bill Frisell and luminary Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) both guesting. The core of the band are Daniel Kimbro, Mike Seal and Jeff Sipe.
“I moved back to my home state of North Carolina about four and a half years ago,” she explains. “What started as a move to live a simpler life and raise my family among the mountains, soon became a full-blown discovery of self beyond being a musician, but a woman, a mother, and a human.”
In the title track, she sings, “It was modern Appalachia/So old, so new/When the sacred met the sorrow I knew it was true…It was modern Appalachia/so ancient-and so free/speaking straight to every color in me.”

The first single is “In the Mountains” which also features Julie Lee and Elizabeth Foster on harmonies.
The second single off of Sarah’s upcoming album is “A Little Bit Troubled”:
Siskind’s songs have been covered by Alison Krauss, Randy Travis, Wynonna, Point of Grace, Madi Diaz and others. Her music has also found its way onto television – Nashville, Teen Mom 2, Awkward, Pretty Little Liars, Army Wives and The Wire. Her album Say It Louder won Americana Album of the Year at the Nashville Music Awards.
Because she is not able to tour, Sarah Siskind has begun an online series called MOD APP LIVE where she plays songs, interviews guests, discusses life and love, cooks and talks about stuff.
