Margo Price’s new music

That’s How Rumors Get Started
Out May 8, 2020
Single “Twinkle Twinkle”
On 8 May 2020, American country singer songwriter Margo Price will release That’s How Rumors Get Started, an album of ten new, original songs, via Loma Vista Recordings.
Produced by longtime friend Sturgill Simpson (co-produced by Margo and David Ferguson), the album contains topics of motherhood, stardom, Nashville gentrification, healthcare crisis, relationships and growing pains.
Released today, Price has shared a new single “Twinkle Twinkle” with an accompanying video. Inspired by a candid, backstage conversation with Marty Stuart about the tough truths of touring, the song is a stinging indictment of nostalgia and the illusory nature of success.
Price primarily cut That’s How Rumors Get Started at Los Angeles’ EastWest Studios, with tracking occurring over several days while she was pregnant with daughter Ramona.
‘’They’re both a creation process,’’ said Margo. ‘’And I was being really good to my body and my mind during that time. I had a lot of clarity from sobriety.’’
While Margo Price continued to collaborate on most of the songwriting with her husband Jeremy Ivey, she recorded with an historic band assembled by Sturgill, including guitarist Matt Sweeney, bassist Pino Palladino, drummer James Gadson and keyboardist Benmont Tench. Background vocals were added by Simpson on “Letting Me Down”, and the Nashville Friends Gospel Choir, who raise the arrangements of “Hey Child” and “What Happened To Our Love?”.
That’s How Rumors Get Started follows Margo’s much-feted 2017 album All American Made, one of our picks of the year.
