EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO COVID19

Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion is a three-day music feast saturating the main streets of Bristol which lies across the Virginia/Tennessee border. In the town officially designated as the Birthplace of Country Music, the festival in 2020 will be held September 11 to 13.

Some performers had already been revealed, including Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Tanya Tucker, Rhonda Vincent, Lonesome River Band, Ian Noe, Red Molly and Sierra Ferrell.

The FULL line-up has just been released and includes many of our favourites – The SteelDrivers, Junior Brown, Charley Crockett, Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, The Steel Wheels, Kelsey Waldon, Rachel Baiman and Jesse Dayton. Here’s the entire list:

In 1927 Ralph Peer, a record producer from the Victor Talking Machine Company took the most advanced recording equipment and set up a portable recording studio in the middle of Bristol, on State Street.  Over the course of two weeks, Peer recorded no less than 76 songs by 19 different acts, including three acts who became stars – Ernest V. Stoneman, The Carter Family (now known as “The First Family of Country Music” and Jimmie Rodgers (“The Father of Country Music”)  – this catalogue of songs are now known as “the 1927 Bristol Sessions” and are regarded as “The Big Bang of Country Music”.

These recordings in Bristol are the single most important event in the history of Country Music – Johnny Cash

Listening Through The Lens will be there again to report on this wonderful event. In fact, our 2020 GrassRoots Music Tour will include time in Bristol so we can soak up the whole three days. There are still places available on our tour – SEE HOW TO JOIN OUR TOUR and read our experiences on Bristol Rhythm and Roots 2019.
