Folk duo tour dates
Return to Australia
“Two become one, in song…hand-in-glove harmonies surprise the listener with focused intensity and musical mastery,” – Grammy-nominated songwriter Mary Gauthier
Award-winning folk duo Ordinary Elephant (Folk Alliance International Artist Of The Year) are returning to Australian shores this March 2020 for a series of dates (festivals and intimate shows).
The duo is backing up some successful performances on their visit less than twelve months back. You can review our review of one of their shows here.
Ordinary Elephant are husband-and-wife Crystal and Pete Damore and have been performing together since 2011, when they called Houston, Texas home. The two became nomads in 2014, and lived on the road full-time with their dogs for five years.
Although they’ve recently put down roots in Louisiana near Crystal’s hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana they’ll still call the road home for much of the year, connecting with audiences through the conversation of their music.
They set aside the work they’d done previously, as a veterinary cardiologist and a computer programmer, in order to focus on making music. “I had a safe job and was on a safe life trajectory, financially,” Crystal says, “but those things were like a safety rail you reach for — a habit, a comfortable familiarity… something you’re expected to reach for. I was letting those things hold me up instead of learning to stand on my own.”
The duo is slated to play a few dates in Victoria – the River Folk Festival in Warburton and the Yackandandah Folk Festival, as well as the Merri Creek Tavern in Northcote, Melbourne and Blue Tongue Berries in Seymour.
