Sounds Australia Showcases
AmericanaFest 2019
Nashville 10 – 14 September
Sounds Australia is returning to Nashville, Tennessee next month to coordinate multiple showcase events and industry networking opportunities at the annual AmericanaFest.
Now in its 20th year, the festival attracts a wide range of artists from all across the globe who fit into the broad church of Americana music. Six Australian acts have been officially selected to showcase at AmericanaFest this year, while a number of other Australians will make the journey to Nashville for the event, to play in a city renowned for its abundance of live music.

Bluebird Cafe
Sounds Australia will once again host a series of “in the round” sets at the Bluebird Cafe on Tuesday September 10. Across four one-hour sets, three Australian artists will share the stage at each time, swapping stories and songs at one of Nashville’s most iconic and revered venues. Tickets will be available through The Bluebird Cafe’s website closer to the date.
A Taste Of Australia
This year A Taste Of Australia moves to a new home, a new day and a new time: InDo, in the afternoon of Thursday September 12. The showcase runs in our “Two For The Showcase” style, giving each act a two-song performance (approximately 10 minute sets with a five minute change over in-between).
Aussie BBQ
The AUSSIE BBQ Nashville remains the largest showcase of Australian Americana artists in North America. On Saturday September 14 at The 5 Spot in East Nashville, there will be almost seven hours of live music. Entry to the event is free, allowing delegates and the people of Nashville an opportunity to witness some of Australia’s best Americana talent. Not just a great showcase name, this event will feature actual Australian BBQ, so come early and grab yourself some free food. Expect some special surprises at this showcase too.

Conference
Australia will also be represented in the conference component. Dobe Newton of The Bushwackers will join a panel of experts to discuss the economic and cultural value of music production and performance, in particular at the grassroots level. The panel, entitled Valuing Music And The Arts, will be held at The Westin Nashville on Friday September 13 at 12:30pm.
