Kelsey Waldon

October 4 Release

Kentucky native Kelsey Waldon has announced the release of her new full-length album White Noise/White Lines for October 4, 2019.

In somewhat of a landmark, Waldon has been honored by one of her biggest influences and songwriting heroes, John Prine with White Noise/White Lines her first release on Prine’s own independent label, Oh Boy Records, their first new artist signing in fifteen years.

“It’s hard for me to put into words what it truly means to me to be signed to Oh Boy Records,” says Waldon. “To have someone like John, who I have looked up to my whole life, who I have set my songwriting standards after and my general music making standards after, to have someone like him endorse my music and care enough about it to make sure it reaches a wider audience…that means everything.”

Co-produced by Waldon and Dan Knobler, White Noise/White Lines is at first listening, a strikingly interesting record, filled with strident songs, a Chickasaw Tribe chant, a voicemail recording of Waldon’s father who’d called to tell her he’d heard her on the radio, to a snippet of her friends playing the bluegrass classic “Run Rabbit Run”.

Here’s a clip for the confident anthem “Anyhow”:

I am bursting with pride to have Kelsey Waldon recording for Oh Boy Records. Her music continues an important arc of traditional folk and country music. I love Kelsey’s singing. Her voice is one of the more authentic country voices I’ve heard in a long time. I’m looking forward to allthe shows we’ll be performing together this year.- John Prine
