Rodney Crowell – New Release ‘Texas’ Out August 15
New Song “Flatland Hillbilly” Out Now
Grammy-winning artist Rodney Crowell teams up with fellow Texan Randy Rogers in the official video for his new track “Flatland Hillbillies”.
Written by Crowell and his frequent co-writer Mary Karr (New York Times best-selling memoirist and author of The Liars Club), the jangling country tune features backing vocals by Rogers and Grammy winner Lee Ann Womack. Here it is:
“Flatland Hillbillies” is part of Crowell’s upcoming collaboration album Texas, which explores the celebrated artist’s Lone Star roots with an eclectic cast of all-star friends. Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Ronnie Dunn, Billy F Gibbons, Vince Gill and Steve Earle also contribute to the set, which places twangy two steppers alongside hard-driving blues rockers, quirky spoken-word compositions and more – each brought to life by Crowell’s famously sharp, vivid storytelling and authentic vernacular.
Texas is due out August 15 (on RC1 Records), and Crowell returns to the road on August 2 for a run of coast-to-coast tour dates – including an August 10 stop in Carthage, Texas, where he’ll be inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame.

On August 21, Crowell will be the recipient of the ACM Poet’s Award at the 2019 ACM Honors hosted at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The award pays homage to his incomparable musical and lyrical contributions throughout his decades-long career.
