The Australian tour for Texan Charley Crockett has been cancelled

Charley Crockett First Australian Tour Not Going Ahead
Charley Crockett has announced that he must cancel his proposed Australian Tour due to ill health.
Crockett had multiple surgeries recently, including open heart surgery and hernia surgery. He was advised to take 3 months off for recovery and did. Unfortunately, the surgery was delayed a few weeks and this has caused some overlap in proper time for recovery. Charley’s medical team has advised that Charley not do any strenuous travel, including international and multiple flight travel.
A representative for Crockett said: “This was not an easy decision for Charley to make as he loves touring, travelling and performing. The opportunity to travel internationally to Australia and perform his show is a once in a lifetime opportunity that everyone was very much looking forward to. However, we have no other option but to take the advice and recommendations of his expert medical staff and proceed with every precaution regarding Charley making a 100% recovery.”
Crockett still has a short run of US dates on his calendar which he will be travelling by tour bus and closely monitored by his doctors.
Love Police Touring and Cooking Vinyl Australia have advised that ticket buyers will be contacted by the relevant ticket provider for a full refund.
A highly-talented singer songwriter, Listening Through The Lens wishes Charley Crockett a full recovery and hope to see him in Australia soon.
Our Original Post
Love Police Touring has announced the debut Australian tour by the talented Texan singer songwriter Charley Crockett and his band.
A poor kid from south Texas whose ancestry traces back to Davy Crockett, Charley cut his teeth busking on the streets of New Orleans and the subway platforms of New York City. Today, Crockett has honed a colourful stage persona with a distinctly retro flair, complete with vintage pearl-snap shirts, high-waisted slacks and a homespun, irreverent sense of humour. His voice is smooth as silk.
This May Crockett will embark on his first Australian tour, bringing his rootsy take on Americana music to intimate venues in Melbourne, Castlemaine, Sydney and Newcastle as well as appearing at Blues on Broadbeach on the Gold Coast. Up and comer Sierra Ferrell, will be a special guest at all shows, except Gold Coast.
Crockett released his latest and highly-engaging album, Charley Crockett presents Lil G.L.’s Blue Bonanza (via Thirty Tigers) in December last year, his second release of 2018 and one of our favourites here at Listening Through The Lens.
Lil G.L.’s Blue Bonanza pays tribute to Crockett’s busking days, with an album stocked with his own interpretations of old-school country songs and half-forgotten blues gems. He breathes new life into these songs in a terrifically entertaining collection which features fifteen songs originally performed by George Jones, Ernest Tubb, T-Bone Walker, Jimmy Reed, Charles Brown, Lavelle White, Ray Charles and others. It’s also the second release in his ongoing Lil G.L. series, following 2017’s Lil G.L.’s Honky Tonk Jubilee.
