GRAMMY winning Patty Griffin is releasing her long-awaited new album, the first since 2015’s Servant Of Love (read our review).

The acclaimed singer-songwriter’s 10th studio recording is simply titled Patty Griffin and will be available on March 8 2019 (on her own PGM Recordings label via Thirty Tigers). The album was recorded predominantly at Griffin’s home in Austin, Texas, with Griffin and longtime collaborator Craig Ross co-producing.

Players contributing to the album are regular friends and frequent accompanists, including Ross, guitarist David Pulkingham, drummer and percussionist Conrad Choucroun, cellist Lindsey Verrill, pianist Stephen Barber and Robert Plant, who contributes backing vocals to the tracks “What Now” and “Coins.”

The new release follows a time out of the spotlight following her diagnosis of breast cancer. Here’s a preview, a new track “River”:

  1. We saw Patty in Lawrence, KS 5/2/2018. She was just back on the road after her illness. She was thinner than usual, but it was an incredibly good show and her voice was strong. Maybe we’ll have a chance to see her again once the album is out and she is likely to be touring again. Thanks, Rob.

    • Hi Sara. Patty was due to tour Australia March 2017 but it got cancelled for health reasons. I saw her in Feb 18 (pic in article) and she seemed pretty good. It looks like she has plenty of shows already announced for 2019 to promote the new release. Hope you are well my friend.
