Read about John Prine’s long-awaited return to Australia
One of the USA’s most remarkable songwriters, two-time Grammy winner and master storyteller John Prine will tour Australia and New Zealand in February and March 2019.
It will be, amazingly, his first time on these shores in twenty five years and signals a must-see set of shows. Having just turned 72, Prine shows no signs of slowing down. His tour schedule is brimming over and his show at AmericanaFest last month was one of the most popular shows of the whole festival with a special ballot to align the demand to the venue’s capacity. Prine won Artist Of The Year at this year’s Americana Awards show. He has also recently announced his own headlining cruise.
Prine’s most recent record is the highly successful The Tree of Forgiveness – read Laura and Andy’s (The Weeping Willows) review HERE.
Adding to the attraction of the events is the flame-haired Kentuckian Tyler Childers as support, with a stunning release last year Purgatory, one of our TOP TWENTY OF THE YEAR.

Going to be a Hoot and then some can’t wait

Sure is. I assume he’s bringing his full band. Seen them twice this year, Fats Kaplin on pedal steel and fiddle adds a lot to the sound.
