Rhythm & Roots Reunion 2018
Bristol Virginia/Tennessee
Performers Announced
The annual Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival began in 2001 and has been under the umbrella of the Birthplace of Country Music Museum since December, 2012. The Festival generally hosts over 130 bands/performers on twenty stages in the streets and alleyways of downtown Bristol during the third weekend in September.
Attendance has grown to approximately 45,000. Among its many accolades the Festival has been named as one of Rolling Stone’s “Top 20 Tours and Festivals”, and has won a Grand Pinnacle Award from the International Festival and Events Association. The town of Bristol is officially recognised as the Birthplace of Country Music where The Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers were first recorded in 1927. That event is known as The Big Bang of Country Music and Johnny Cash has stated that it is the single most important event in the history of country music. There is plenty of musical diversity at the Reunion and the rich musical history of the town adds even more to the vibe and importance of this event. Bristol also forms a key part of The Crooked Road music heritage trail.
Listening Through The Lens found the town in 2013 and covered the Reunion in 2016. See various links below.
