Performers Announced
First launched in 2007, the Roots n Blues n BBQ festival features over thirty artists representing the genres of roots, blues, gospel, country, folk, bluegrass, rock, and soul music – international, national, regional and local artists.
The three-day event was originally held in downtown Columbia and moved to the close-by St Stephen’s Lake Park. Listening Through The Lens found it in 2014, being the weekend after Americanafest in Nashville and hosted an irresistible group of our favourite performers, such as John Prine, Jason Isbell, Rosanne Cash, Amos Lee, Los Lobos, JJ Grey & Mofro, Jay Farrar (Son Volt) AND Trampled By Turtles. It turned out to be a hoot, alright.
The performance schedule was from around 5 to 11pm Friday, 1 to 11.30pm Saturday and 1 to 8.30pm Sunday. It’s held in a beautiful setting, the Park is huge and the two stages are well positioned at the bottom of rolling hills – the larger of the two stages, Missouri Lottery, featured more roots and country artists, while the Great Southern Bank Stage had more blues and rock acts. Add to that the Front Porch Stage and every genre base is covered.
We are returning this year! The Trifest Music Tour will descend on the beautiful college town of Columbia from 28 to 30 September. Not only will we be present, we are offering the Whole Hog VIP option for our group members. This covers:
- two lounge areas, each within view of a stage
- upfront viewing areas at both stages
- small plate meals served in the lounges Friday, Saturday and Sunday
- appetizers & snacks served in the lounges
- private restrooms
- private access to our own cash bars

American Blues Scene Magazine called the Roots n Blues n BBQ Festival “One of the most prominent festivals in the country!”
As well as live music, patrons will enjoy delicious BBQ and other offerings from local and regional vendors. The Festival includes a kick-off event Thursday night, a half Marathon and 10K race (thankfully, entry for these is voluntary!) on Saturday morning and a Sunday Gospel Celebration. The Festival is a fun, warm and terrific celebration of music, food and culture.
