Happy Holidays and R.I.P. Santa

By the power of unlimited numerals.

That’s how many festive, holidays songs that have crossed our desk over the past weeks.  Generally, what a dreary bunch – bah humbug.

There have been some exceptions but how many times can you hear the same songs, particularly as you cannot escape from them at any department store or supermarket.   There have been some wonderful songs featuring the festive season – Steve Earle or John Prine come to mind. They are but one grain in an hour glass.

But we do want to wish you happy Christmas and a joyous holiday period.  So we have spent hours trawling through all the new seasonal music, debated their merits and endeavoured to short list them.  And then we ran out of patience.

So, a little randomly, we offer one musical holiday seasonal contribution.

Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday Festive Season To You

SUSTO put in a great set at AmericanaFest this year.  The Charleston, South Carolina band released & I’m Fine Today via Missing Piece Records earlier on 2017.  SUSTO is comprised of Justin Osborne (vocals, guitar), Dries Vandenberg (guitar), Marshall Hudson (drums), Jenna Desmond (bass) and Corey Campbell (guitar, keys). The band name derives from a medical syndrome specific to Latin American culture that roughly translates as “panic attack.”  That can happen at this time of year!  Here is their christmas single ‘R.I.P. Santa’.
