Blind Date Records is a brand new independent Australian record label aiming to represent some of the country’s finest in alt-country, folk, swamp blues and country-soul.  It has assembled an impressive roster of local artists already including Freya Josephine HollickJeb CardwellJames Ellis and the Jealous GuysGreenvilleRuth Lindsey and Sean McMahon.

Based in Melbourne Australia, Blind Date Records was founded by Tim McCormack and Phoebe Wynne.  The label has announced its first official releases with new music from McMahon, Cardwell, Greenville and James Ellis and the Jealous Guys.  You can listen to the sampler via Soundcloud HERE.

Here’s the track listing from the label’s press release:

“Show Me The Way” by Sean McMahon

‘Show Me the Way’ encapsulates Sean’s innate talent, weaving poetic lyricism with fuzz guitars and a cosmic country resonance without sacrificing his melodic songwriting pedigree.”

“Dreaming of You” by Jeb Cardwell

A delicious cross between J.J Cale and Tom Petty with a swampy dose of Tony Joe White, ‘Dreaming of You’ is a blues and soul based rocker, featuring Jeb’s killer voice playing in harmony with lusciously layered guitars.

“Round Again” by Greenville

‘Round Again’ is a multi-layered, alt-country gem from Matt Green with a sing-a-long chorus backed by Crazy Horse era Neil Young-esque fuzzed out licks and soaring vocals.

“Xmas Lights” by James Ellis & the Jealous Guys

A wistful, country folk song highlighting James’ strength in homegrown storytelling and evocative arrangements, reminiscent of Paul Kelly’s ‘How to Make Gravy’; “Xmas Lights’ is an essentially Australian sound with a desert highway backdrop.
