John Prine is one of the most regarded story tellers of his generation.  Around twenty albums released since his 1971 debut.  His songs have been covered by Johnny Cash, John Denver, John Mellencamp, Bette Midler, Bonnie Raitt, Loretta Lynn, John Fogerty and The Everely Brothers.   He is included in Rolling Stone’s ‘500 Greatest Albums of All Time’, has won two Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting from the Americana Music Association, and induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Prine’s own label Oh Boy Records has announced the publication of Beyond Words, a personal songbook.  In his first official book, Prine curates a selection of his favorites songs, photographs and stories from his catalogue. The new book, which will be released on April 18 2017, includes:

  • Over 100 photographs from Prine’s personal collection
  • Copies of hand-written lyrics showing how the songs evolved
  • Notes from Prine about the songs and photographs
  • Lyrics and guitar chords for over 60 classic John Prine songs

His latest release For Better, or Worse features duets with some of the best female performers in the Americana/Country/Folk genres – Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, Iris Dement, Lee Ann Womack, Alison Krauss, Holly Williams, Susan Tedeschi, Holly Williams, Morgane Stapleton, Amanda Shires, Fiona Prine & Kathy Mattea.  You can read our review of that album HERE.
