Well, here is some Listening Through The Lens history in the making.
The first post from Mexico – Cozumel to be exact. A deep port in the Gulf of Mexico. The Norwegian Jade has docked for a few hours.
A quick update of the musical highlights so far. This will be pretty itchy and scratchy. Typed on an iPhone and battery down to 25%!
The Guy Clark tribute set was stunning and emotional – contributions from Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris, Sarah Jarosz, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Paul Thorn and others.
The Patty Griffin set with Buddy Miller was special as were the ‘songs of protest’ show with Gretchen Peters, Sarah Potenza, Gurf Morlix and Amy Helm.
Sets from John Paul White, Morlix, Tasjan, Parker Millsap, Randall Bramblett, Angaleena Presley, The Love Junkies, Ruby Amanfu (with Luther Dickinson) and Christian Lopez were all memorable.
Tonight back on board will be Jarosz, Miller with guitar sidekicks, Will Hoge and Peters or American Aquarium (have not decided yet).
The seas have been calm, the ship and its crew terrific. Most important, renewing friendships and making new ones.
Artists roam around the ship without being bothered. An example the bass player with Parker Millsap sat down with us for dinner last night.
It’s been a nautical blast.
Phone down to 5%…
Goodbye and fade out (for now).
