Wilco Announces New Album And Streams Track
Remember Nilsson Schmilsson, Harry Nilsson‘s iconic 1971 album?
In the annals of rhyming, self-deprecating titles, we now have Schmilco. Acclaimed Chicago band (and one of my all-time favourites) Wilco has announced the release of its tenth studio album Schmilco on September 9 2016, with a special early release for vinyl on September. Schmilco features twelve new songs written by Jeff Tweedy and is the band’s third release on their own dBpm Records.
Reportedly, it is mostly an acoustic collection, spacious and loose which is miles away from the fuzzed power guitars of the band’s previous release Star Wars (2015).
According to the band’s website:
Schmilco finds band leader Tweedy in a state of alienation: how to cope with dissonance between self-identity and the public perception of his band – to maintain an innocence and earnestness even as some have come to see him as more (or less) than human, and Wilco as something other than six musicians?
If you have a Spotify account, you can stream the new Wilco song ‘If Ever I Was A Child’ via here.

Wilco is hosting album listening parties for “Schmilco” on Sept. 6. I’m hoping to attend a listening party in the Detroit area. http://wilcoworld.net/store-locator/
