The members of Trampled by Turtles (TBT) wanted a refuge from their various rock bands and decided to combine and only play music with acoustic instruments.  They learned old fiddle songs, traditional folk songs, bluegrass songs, and what few original songs they had, followed those formulas.  As it happened, the first year of existence of TBT was also the last year of existence for their other bands.

Nine albums since 2004 and the band has been steadily growing its following.  I notice that they are playing at the Roots n Blues n BBQ festival in Columbia MO which is held 26 to 28 September this year.  Another reason for me to try to get to this event.

A new release is on the way – Wild Animals – coming July 15 2014 on Banjodad Records/Thirty Tigers.  Check out the first track “Are You Behind The Shining Star?” from the album and a short video
