Read about the program for the Fairport’s Cropredy festival in 2014
In 2012 I ventured from Melbourne Australia to Fairport’s Cropredy Convention, a three-day, long-established music and cultural event in north Oxfordshire England.
With a bunch of friends and under the wing of Nancy Covey’s Festival Tours, we had a terrific introduction to this now forty-seven-year phenomenon, pitched around one of the best and longest-serving folk/rock outfits going around – Fairport Convention. For my full report on the 2012 festival check here.
The line-up for the 2014 event has been released and it looks pretty tantalising. I won’t be going this year (as the Americana festival in Nashville has me under its spell!). Although I am not ruling out a return in the future, given the fantastic exposure to English and Celtic folk/rock in such a beautiful and historic setting. It is an experience to be cherished – perhaps Fairport’s Convention’s 50th anniversary which would be in 2017 might be the go?
Anyhow, here’s the full 2014 line up.
Thursday 7 August
The Waterboys, Steve Hackett – Genesis Extended, Capercaillie, Joe Broughton’s Conservatoire Folk Ensemble, Fairport Acoustic Convention
Friday 8 August

I’m with you Rob, we will be saving up to do the 50th Anni Fest in 2017 – if Nancy does a Fest Tour again because RT will be there then that’s the way we’ll do it – Vic will also be up for it for sure. All the best, John
