New Release – Joan As Police Woman – The Classic

I saw Joan As Police Woman at the Atheneum Theatre in Melbourne, a venue in which I don’t recall seeing a lot of live music (alternative indie outfit Eels come to mind as the other performance there).

On this June 2011 night I was rather mesmerised by Joan Wasser aka Joan As Police Woman.  Hot on the heels of the release of her then new album The Deep Field, she was not unlike Cat Woman behind the keyboards, moving easily to the soulful yet unpredictable groove and displaying her beautiful voice and songwriting expertise.  She didn’t exactly purr but it would have come as no surprise if she did.

I have her three previous albums (Real Life – 2006, To Survive – 2008 and The Deep Field – 2011) – strong, sensual and soulful all of them.  Here’s another one on the way – The Classic.




The album will be released March 10 2014.
