Read our travels around the Haight Ashbury district San Francisco
We all had one day left in San Francisco. Some of The Famous Five were traveling home tomorrow, some were traveling to the final leg of their journey.
The key event of the day was to return tonight to the Cuban restaurant on Upper Haight for more delicious food and sample the specialty sangria.
Trish was keen to travel to Berkeley today. Something new for us all to do.
A bus trip down Market St to the nearest BART (subway) and then we took the route under the Bay to nearby Berkeley. A very efficient service but the view wasn’t that flash.
After a nice coffee at an Italian bakery, Trish and Richard ambled up to the University campus while Jenny, Sandra and I headed to the Telegraph area where another Amoeba Music store was located.
We returned through the campus to the BART station, back to San Francisco where the girls went shopping while I found a quiet spot. Back on the 71 bus to our humble home where I repacked the small case and then a pre-dinner chat.
We bussed up to Cha Cha Cha’s where the Sangria was very good and my chicken quesadilla was brilliant.
Walking back down Haight St on a Monday night was a different experience to the weekend. Very few tourists and many groups of homeless people.
Back home. Much discussion about our trip.
Tomorrow will be goodbyes. Jenny and I will be picking up rental car #3 and heading to Plymouth CA.
