Lifetime Achievement Honor

Americana Honor & Awards Show 2018

Today the Americana Music Association announced that blues legend Buddy Guy will be a Lifetime Achievement Honoree.  Guy will be at the Americana Honors and Awards Show September 12 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville to accept his award and will most likely perform on the night as well.

Buddy is a seven-time Grammy-winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, he has played with the greats of the blues including Chuck Berry, Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters and is probably the last of the legendary Chicago bluesmen with an indelible impact of countless other blues guitarists.  Rolling Stone magazine has named him among their list of “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”

The 81-year old shows no sign of slowing down with a new release, the aptly titled The Blues is Alive and Well (out June 15 via Silvertone/RCA Records) which will feature Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Jeff Beck and James Bay.  The new release is the follow-up to 2015’s Born to Play Guitar and was produced by longtime collaborator Tom Hambridge.

The Americana Honors and Awards night will also honor other nominees (yet to be announced) and will also recognise the best achievements for the year with a series of awards and performances at this gala event.  The award nominees have already been announced and include John Prine, Jason Isbell, Margo Price, Brandi Carlile and Nathaniel Rateliff – check them all out HERE.
