Legendary Co-founder of The Jayhawks
Australian Tour Announced
Mark Olson to tour Australia on back of new album Spokeswoman of the Bright Sun
Mark Olson was born and raised in Minnesota by a family of farmers and school teachers, surrounded by musical instruments since the age of twelve. In 1985 he formed the iconic alt. country band The Jayhawks with Gary Louris and was originally the principal singer-songwriter in the group. The two-part harmonies with Louris were always a feature on a string of majestic albums through the next decade.
Olson left the band in 1995 to care for his-then partner (the band continued on before a hiatus in 2005 and a re-emergence relatively recently).
Olson paired up again with Louris for an album (Ready For The Flood) and two short tours in 2005 and 2006, including stop-overs in Australia. Since 2007 he has forged a solo career starting with The Salvation Blues that year and, most recently, Good-bye Lizelle, in 2104.
He lives now in the California Desert with his wife Ingunn Ringvold and they have collaborated on a new collection Spokeswoman of the Bright Sun coming September 1 via Glitterhouse Records.
On the back of that new release is a recently announced tour of Europe and Australia/New Zealand.
