Watch these brand new videos from Lindi Ortega, Steve Earle and Mipso.
Lindi Ortega provides a dark version of Townes Van Zandt‘s ‘Waiting ‘Round To Die’ from her recent EP Til The Goin’ Gets Gone (from Shadowbox Music) which features three original tracks and this cover. Shot in the Badlands of Alberta, Ortega’s video captures this bleak, profound song with feeling.
Ortega says: “This EP was heavily influenced by Townes Van Zandt, which is why I included one of his tunes on the EP. I am in awe of his song-writing and his storytelling. I want to be a storyteller, whether it’s telling my own story, the story of an exotic dancer, or the story of the road of life and the resilience that we humans must have in order to get through this thing we call living.”
Steve Earle & The Dukes
Americana troubadour Steve Earle with his band The Dukes is releasing a new studio album So You Wannabe An Outlaw, which will be out and about (via Warner Brothers) from June 16 2017.
So You Wannabe An Outlaw is a follow-up to Earle’s bluesy Terraplane (2015) with the new songs exploring outlaw country music with nods to Willie Nelson, the late Waylon Jennings and Guy Clark. Read more HERE. Here’s one of the tracks ‘Lookin’ For a Woman’:
On 7 April 2017, acclaimed Chapel Hill (North Carolina) quartet Mipso released a new album, Coming Down The Mountain (Robust Records).
Coming Down The Mountain is the band’s fourth album, following their well-regarded Old Time Reverie (2015). The new album was developed and recorded in the band’s home State, to a large extent utlising a friend’s barn. The album’s ten songs are all originals. Here is a clip of one of them, the ethereal ‘Water Runs Red’:
