Jemma & The Clifton Hillbillies
Record ‘Sleeping’ in Nashville TN
Jemma Rowlands is known as the principal of Melbourne alt. country/Americana band Jemma & The Clifton Hillbillies.
‘Sleeping’ was written by Rowlands and recorded at the end of the band’s journey to Nashville in late 2016.
With a few days up their sleeve in Nashville, Cal Walker, Sean McMahon and Rowlands worked with engineer Graham Waks of Left Plus Right Studio to record ‘Sleeping’ with Rowlands on vocals, Walker on piano/bass and McMahon on acoustic/electric guitars. Andrew Watson was later added to the mix on violins and viola, with the help of Mick Thomas engineering at the Big Blue Bent Bungalow in Melbourne.
This song is the close of a chapter with Rowlands to embark on a solo project.
Jemma & The Clifton Hillbillies will be playing at the Port Fairy Folk Festival on March 10 to 13. LTTL will be covering the event.
