Influential label Yep Roc Records recently has signed Jonah Tolchin to its stable.

As a songwriter, Jonah bridges the gap between classic folk self-sufficiency and punk’s DIY defiance.  He plays everything from roots and Americana music to old-time folk and acoustic blues.  His full length album Clover Lane will be released in coming months.  In addition to making Yep Roc his new label home, he also has signed a deal with Riff City Sounds, an independent boutique publisher.

“I totally dug the music the first time I heard it,” says Glenn Dicker of Yep Roc.  “When I found out how young he was I was totally blown away.  The kid has got the real stuff.”

“I wrote ‘Diamond Mind’ the same day I asked my fiance to marry me,” says Tolchin.

“I wasn’t planning on asking her.  I was staring out the window at a New England sky, being given words and melodies, she was inside playing with her one year-old nephew.  The spirit in the room filled my heart with love and an idea.  I ran outside and found some tall-grass growing by the side of the road and made a ring.”
