Townes Van Zandt – A New Book

Last year I read a very good account of the life of Townes Van Zandt called To Live’s To Fly. I was lucky enough to get Steve Earle to sign my copy of the book in Austin, Texas at a launch of his own work I’ll Never Get Out Of This World Alive.  Being a big Van Zandt and Earle fan and given their close relationship, To Live’s To Fly has an extra special place in my bookshelf.

Now there is another book just released – I’ll Be Here In The Morning: The Songwriting Legacy Of Townes Van Zandt by Brian T Atkinson.

There is a great article on Atkinson’s book by Chris Mateer, founder and writer of the Uprooted Music Revue and regular contributor to the No Depression website.

Here is a link to Chris’ article.

It’s great to see Van Zandt’s impressive legacy continue to grow in recognition.

  1. Hi Rob and Greetings from the Land of Enchantment,
Thursday, March 7, is the birthday of Townes Van Zandt. He toured the Land of Enchantment frequently. (We regularly play one of the clubs he performed at.)

Christina imagined what one of those trips through New Mexico would have been like for him, and wrote “Townes”…A haunting song about the wanderings of a singer/songwriter on the road.

In honor of the occasion, enjoy a FREE download in a broadcast quality wav format. Please share this on your blog.
